Our current feeling is that the CVE content decisions have a number of
complexities that will require additional staff effort on the MITRE
side before CVE IDs become available.

Adding board list to CC as this is germane to the CVE board (and the original email also CC'ed the board list). Also what's the time frame on this? days/weeks/months? And I feel ridiculous asking, but, who am I talking to?
