CVE-2021-39186 GlobalNewFiles is a MediaWiki extension maintained by Miraheze. Prior to commit number cee254e1b158cdb0ddbea716b1d3edc31fa4fb5d, the username column of the GlobalNewFiles special page is vulnerable to a stored XSS. Commit number cee254e1b158cdb0ddbea716b1d3edc31fa4fb5d contains a patch. As a workaround, one may disallow <,> (or other characters required to insert html/js) from being used in account names so an XSS is not possible.
CVE-2021-37558 A SQL injection vulnerability in a MediaWiki script in Centreon before 20.04.14, 20.10.8, and 21.04.2 allows remote unauthenticated attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the host_name and service_description parameters. The vulnerability can be exploited only when a valid Knowledge Base URL is configured on the Knowledge Base configuration page and points to a MediaWiki instance. This relates to the proxy feature in class/centreon-knowledge/ProceduresProxy.class.php and include/configuration/configKnowledge/proxy/proxy.php.
CVE-2021-36132 An issue was discovered in the FileImporter extension in MediaWiki through 1.36. CVE-2021-36127 An issue was discovered in the CentralAuth extension in MediaWiki through 1.36. The Special:GlobalUserRights page provided search results which, for a suppressed MediaWiki user, were different than for any other user, thus easily disclosing suppressed accounts (which are supposed to be completely hidden).
CVE-2021-36126 An issue was discovered in the AbuseFilter extension in MediaWiki through 1.36. If the MediaWiki:Abusefilter-blocker message is invalid within the content language, the filter user falls back to the English version, but that English version could also be invalid on a wiki. This would result in a fatal error, and potentially fail to block or restrict a potentially nefarious user.
CVE-2021-36125 An issue was discovered in the CentralAuth extension in MediaWiki through 1.36. The Special:GlobalRenameRequest page is vulnerable to infinite loops and denial of service attacks when a user's current username is beyond an arbitrary maximum configuration value (MaxNameChars).
CVE-2021-35197 In MediaWiki before 1.31.15, 1.32.x through 1.35.x before 1.35.3, and 1.36.x before 1.36.1, bots have certain unintended API access. When a bot account has a "sitewide block" applied, it is able to still "purge" pages through the MediaWiki Action API (which a "sitewide block" should have prevented).
CVE-2021-32774 DataDump is a MediaWiki extension that provides dumps of wikis. Prior to commit 67a82b76e186925330b89ace9c5fd893a300830b, DataDump had no protection against CSRF attacks so requests to generate or delete dumps could be forged. The vulnerability was patched in commit 67a82b76e186925330b89ace9c5fd893a300830b. There are no known workarounds. You must completely disable DataDump.
CVE-2021-32722 GlobalNewFiles is a mediawiki extension. Versions prior to 48be7adb70568e20e961ea1cb70904454a671b1d are affected by an uncontrolled resource consumption vulnerability. A large amount of page moves within a short space of time could overwhelm Database servers due to improper handling of load balancing and a lack of an appropriate index. As a workaround, one may avoid use of the extension unless additional rate limit at the MediaWiki level or via PoolCounter / MySQL is enabled. A patch is available in version 48be7adb70568e20e961ea1cb70904454a671b1d.
CVE-2021-31556 An issue was discovered in the Oauth extension for MediaWiki through 1.35.2. MWOAuthConsumerSubmitControl.php does not ensure that the length of an RSA key will fit in a MySQL blob.

CVE-2021-31554 An issue was discovered in the AbuseFilter extension for MediaWiki through 1.35.2. It improperly handled account blocks for certain automatically created MediaWiki user accounts, thus allowing nefarious users to remain unblocked.
CVE-2021-31553 An issue was discovered in the CheckUser extension for MediaWiki through 1.35.2. MediaWiki usernames with trailing whitespace could be stored in the cu_log database table such that denial of service occurred for certain CheckUser extension pages and functionality. For example, the attacker could turn off Special:CheckUserLog and thus interfere with usage tracking.
CVE-2021-31552 An issue was discovered in the AbuseFilter extension for MediaWiki through 1.35.2. It incorrectly executed certain rules related to blocking accounts after account creation. Such rules would allow for user accounts to be created while blocking only the IP address used to create an account (and not the user account itself). Such rules could also be used by a nefarious, unprivileged user to catalog and enumerate any number of IP addresses related to these account creations.
CVE-2021-31551 An issue was discovered in the PageForms extension for MediaWiki through 1.35.2. Crafted payloads for Token-related query parameters allowed for XSS on certain PageForms-managed MediaWiki pages.

CVE-2021-31547 An issue was discovered in the AbuseFilter extension for MediaWiki through 1.35.2. Its AbuseFilterCheckMatch API reveals suppressed edits and usernames to unprivileged users through the iteration of crafted AbuseFilter rules.
CVE-2021-31546 An issue was discovered in the AbuseFilter extension for MediaWiki through 1.35.2. It incorrectly logged sensitive suppression deletions, which should not have been visible to users with access to view AbuseFilter log data.
CVE-2021-31545 An issue was discovered in the AbuseFilter extension for MediaWiki through 1.35.2. The page_recent_contributors leaked the existence of certain deleted MediaWiki usernames, related to rev_deleted.
CVE-2021-30159 An issue was discovered in MediaWiki before 1.31.12 and 1.32.x through 1.35.x before 1.35.2. Users can bypass intended restrictions on deleting pages in certain "fast double move" situations. MovePage::isValidMoveTarget() uses FOR UPDATE, but it's only called if Title::getArticleID() returns non-zero with no special flags. Next, MovePage::moveToInternal() will delete the page if getArticleID(READ_LATEST) is non-zero. Therefore, if the page is missing in the replica DB, isValidMove() will return true, and then moveToInternal() will unconditionally delete the page if it can be found in the master.
CVE-2021-30158 An issue was discovered in MediaWiki before 1.31.12 and 1.32.x through 1.35.x before 1.35.2. Blocked users are unable to use Special:ResetTokens. This has security relevance because a blocked user might have accidentally shared a token, or might know that a token has been compromised, and yet is not able to block any potential future use of the token by an unauthorized party.
CVE-2021-30157 An issue was discovered in MediaWiki before 1.31.12 and 1.32.x through 1.35.x before 1.35.2. On ChangesList special pages such as Special:RecentChanges and Special:Watchlist, some of the rcfilters-filter-* label messages are output in HTML unescaped, leading to XSS.
CVE-2021-30156 An issue was discovered in MediaWiki before 1.31.12 and 1.32.x through 1.35.x before 1.35.2. Special:Contributions can leak that a "hidden" user exists.
CVE-2021-30155 An issue was discovered in MediaWiki before 1.31.12 and 1.32.x through 1.35.x before 1.35.2. ContentModelChange does not check if a user has correct permissions to create and set the content model of a nonexistent page.
CVE-2021-30154 An issue was discovered in MediaWiki before 1.31.12 and 1.32.x through 1.35.x before 1.35.2. On Special:NewFiles, all the mediastatistics-header-* messages are output in HTML unescaped, leading to XSS.
CVE-2021-30152 An issue was discovered in MediaWiki before 1.31.13 and 1.32.x through 1.35.x before 1.35.2. When using the MediaWiki API to "protect" a page, a user is currently able to protect to a higher level than they currently have permissions for.
CVE-2021-29483 ManageWiki is an extension to the MediaWiki project. The 'wikiconfig' API leaked the value of private configuration variables set through the ManageWiki variable to all users. This has been patched by https://github.com/miraheze/ManageWiki/compare/99f3b2c8af18...befb83c66f5b.patch. If you are unable to patch set `$wgAPIListModules['wikiconfig'] = 'ApiQueryDisabled';` or remove private config as a workaround.
CVE-2021-27291 In pygments 1.1+, fixed in 2.7.4, the lexers used to parse programming languages rely heavily on regular expressions. Some of the regular expressions have exponential or cubic worst-case complexity and are vulnerable to ReDoS. By crafting malicious input, an attacker can cause a denial of service.
CVE-2021-21275 The MediaWiki "Report" extension has a Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) vulnerability. Before fixed version, there was no protection against CSRF checks on Special:Report, so requests to report a revision could be forged. The problem has been fixed in commit f828dc6 by making use of MediaWiki edit tokens.
CVE-2021-20270 An infinite loop in SMLLexer in Pygments versions 1.5 to 2.7.3 may lead to denial of service when performing syntax highlighting of a Standard ML (SML) source file, as demonstrated by input that only contains the "exception" keyword.
CVE-2020-9382 An issue was discovered in the Widgets extension through 1.4.0 for MediaWiki. Improper title sanitization allowed for the execution of any wiki page as a widget (as defined by this extension) via MediaWiki's {{#widget:}} parser function.
CVE-2020-6163 The WikibaseMediaInfo extension 1.35 for MediaWiki allows XSS because of improper template syntax within the PropertySuggestionsWidget template (in the templates/search/PropertySuggestionsWidget.mustache+dom file).
CVE-2020-35626 An issue was discovered in the PushToWatch extension for MediaWiki through 1.35.1. The primary form did not implement an anti-CSRF token and therefore was completely vulnerable to CSRF attacks against onSkinAddFooterLinks in PushToWatch.php.
CVE-2020-35625 An issue was discovered in the Widgets extension for MediaWiki through 1.35.1. Any user with the ability to edit pages within the Widgets namespace could call any static function within any class (defined within PHP or MediaWiki) via a crafted HTML comment, related to a Smarty template. For example, a person in the Widget Editors group could use \MediaWiki\Shell\Shell::command within a comment.
CVE-2020-35624 An issue was discovered in the SecurePoll extension for MediaWiki through 1.35.1. The non-admin vote list contains a full vote timestamp, which may provide unintended clues about how a voting process unfolded.
CVE-2020-35623 An issue was discovered in the CasAuth extension for MediaWiki through 1.35.1. Due to improper username validation, it allowed user impersonation with trivial manipulations of certain characters within a given username. An ordinary user may be able to login as a "bureaucrat user" who has a similar username, as demonstrated by usernames that differ only in (1) bidirectional override symbols or (2) blank space.
CVE-2020-35622 An issue was discovered in the GlobalUsage extension for MediaWiki through 1.35.1. SpecialGlobalUsage.php calls WikiMap::makeForeignLink unsafely. The $page variable within the formatItem function was not being properly escaped, allowing for XSS under certain conditions.
CVE-2020-35480 An issue was discovered in MediaWiki before 1.35.1. Missing users (accounts that don't exist) and hidden users (accounts that have been explicitly hidden due to being abusive, or similar) that the viewer cannot see are handled differently, exposing sensitive information about the hidden status to unprivileged viewers. This exists on various code paths.
CVE-2020-35479 MediaWiki before 1.35.1 allows XSS via BlockLogFormatter.php. Language::translateBlockExpiry itself does not escape in all code paths. For example, the return of Language::userTimeAndDate is is always unsafe for HTML in a month value. This affects MediaWiki 1.12.0 and later.
CVE-2020-35478 MediaWiki before 1.35.1 allows XSS via BlockLogFormatter.php. MediaWiki:blanknamespace potentially can be output as raw HTML with SCRIPT tags via LogFormatter::makePageLink(). This affects MediaWiki 1.33.0 and later.
CVE-2020-35477 MediaWiki before 1.35.1 blocks legitimate attempts to hide log entries in some situations. If one sets MediaWiki:Mainpage to Special:MyLanguage/Main Page, visits a log entry on Special:Log, and toggles the "Change visibility of selected log entries" checkbox (or a tags checkbox) next to it, there is a redirection to the main page's action=historysubmit (instead of the desired behavior in which a revision-deletion form appears).
CVE-2020-35475 In MediaWiki before 1.35.1, the messages userrights-expiry-current and userrights-expiry-none can contain raw HTML. XSS can happen when a user visits Special:UserRights but does not have rights to change all userrights, and the table on the left side has unchangeable groups in it. (The right column with the changeable groups is not affected and is escaped correctly.)
CVE-2020-35474 In MediaWiki before 1.35.1, the combination of Html::rawElement and Message::text leads to XSS because the definition of MediaWiki:recentchanges-legend-watchlistexpiry can be changed onwiki so that the output is raw HTML.
CVE-2020-29005 The API in the Push extension for MediaWiki through 1.35 used cleartext for ApiPush credentials, allowing for potential information disclosure.
CVE-2020-29004 The API in the Push extension for MediaWiki through 1.35 did not require an edit token in ApiPushBase.php and therefore facilitated a CSRF attack.
CVE-2020-29003 The PollNY extension for MediaWiki through 1.35 allows XSS via an answer option for a poll question, entered during Special:CreatePoll or Special:UpdatePoll.
CVE-2020-29002 includes/CologneBlueTemplate.php in the CologneBlue skin for MediaWiki through 1.35 allows XSS via a qbfind message supplied by an administrator.
CVE-2020-27957 The RandomGameUnit extension for MediaWiki through 1.35 was not properly escaping various title-related data. When certain varieties of games were created within MediaWiki, their names or titles could be manipulated to generate stored XSS within the RandomGameUnit extension.
CVE-2020-27621 The FileImporter extension in MediaWiki through 1.35.0 was not properly attributing various user actions to a specific user's IP address. Instead, for various actions, it would report the IP address of an internal Wikimedia Foundation server by omitting X-Forwarded-For data. This resulted in an inability to properly audit and attribute various user actions performed via the FileImporter extension.
CVE-2020-27620 The Cosmos Skin for MediaWiki through 1.35.0 has stored XSS because MediaWiki messages were not being properly escaped. This is related to wfMessage and Html::rawElement, as demonstrated by CosmosSocialProfile::getUserGroups.
CVE-2020-26121 An issue was discovered in the FileImporter extension for MediaWiki before 1.34.4. An attacker can import a file even when the target page is protected against "page creation" and the attacker should not be able to create it. This occurs because of a mishandled distinction between an upload restriction and a create restriction. An attacker cannot leverage this to overwrite anything, but can leverage this to force a wiki to have a page with a disallowed title.
CVE-2020-26120 XSS exists in the MobileFrontend extension for MediaWiki before 1.34.4 because section.line is mishandled during regex section line replacement from PageGateway. Using crafted HTML, an attacker can elicit an XSS attack via jQuery's parseHTML method, which can cause image callbacks to fire even without the element being appended to the DOM.
CVE-2020-25869 An information leak was discovered in MediaWiki before 1.31.10 and 1.32.x through 1.34.x before 1.34.4. Handling of actor ID does not necessarily use the correct database or correct wiki.
CVE-2020-25828 An issue was discovered in MediaWiki before 1.31.10 and 1.32.x through 1.34.x before 1.34.4. The non-jqueryMsg version of mw.message().parse() doesn't escape HTML. This affects both message contents (which are generally safe) and the parameters (which can be based on user input). (When jqueryMsg is loaded, it correctly accepts only whitelisted tags in message contents, and escapes all parameters. Situations with an unloaded jqueryMsg are rare in practice, but can for example occur for Special:SpecialPages on a wiki with no extensions installed.)
CVE-2020-25827 An issue was discovered in the OATHAuth extension in MediaWiki before 1.31.10 and 1.32.x through 1.34.x before 1.34.4. For Wikis using OATHAuth on a farm/cluster (such as via CentralAuth), rate limiting of OATH tokens is only done on a single site level. Thus, multiple requests can be made across many wikis/sites concurrently.
CVE-2020-25815 An issue was discovered in MediaWiki 1.32.x through 1.34.x before 1.34.4. LogEventList::getFiltersDesc is insecurely using message text to build options names for an HTML multi-select field. The relevant code should use escaped() instead of text().
CVE-2020-25814 In MediaWiki before 1.31.10 and 1.32.x through 1.34.x before 1.34.4, XSS related to jQuery can occur. The attacker creates a message with [javascript:payload xss] and turns it into a jQuery object with mw.message().parse(). The expected result is that the jQuery object does not contain an <a> tag (or it does not have a href attribute, or it's empty, etc.). The actual result is that the object contains an <a href ="javascript... that executes when clicked.
CVE-2020-25813 In MediaWiki before 1.31.10 and 1.32.x through 1.34.x before 1.34.4, Special:UserRights exposes the existence of hidden users.
CVE-2020-25812 An issue was discovered in MediaWiki 1.34.x before 1.34.4. On Special:Contributions, the NS filter uses unescaped messages as keys in the option key for an HTMLForm specifier. This is vulnerable to a mild XSS if one of those messages is changed to include raw HTML.
CVE-2020-1709 A vulnerability was found in all openshift/mediawiki 4.x.x versions prior to 4.3.0, where an insecure modification vulnerability in the /etc/passwd file was found in the openshift/mediawiki. An attacker with access to the container could use this flaw to modify /etc/passwd and escalate their privileges.
CVE-2020-15179 The ScratchSig extension for MediaWiki before version 1.0.1 allows stored Cross-Site Scripting. Using <script> tag inside <scratchsig> tag, attackers with edit permission can execute scripts on visitors' browser. With MediaWiki JavaScript API, this can potentially lead to privilege escalation and/or account takeover. This has been patched in release 1.0.1. This has already been deployed to all Scratch Wikis. No workarounds exist other than disabling the extension completely.
CVE-2020-15164 in Scratch Login (MediaWiki extension) before version 1.1, any account can be logged into by using the same username with leading, trailing, or repeated underscore(s), since those are treated as whitespace and trimmed by MediaWiki. This affects all users on any wiki using this extension. Since version 1.1, comments by users whose usernames would be trimmed on MediaWiki are ignored when searching for the verification code.
CVE-2020-15005 In MediaWiki before 1.31.8, 1.32.x and 1.33.x before 1.33.4, and 1.34.x before 1.34.2, private wikis behind a caching server using the img_auth.php image authorization security feature may have had their files cached publicly, so any unauthorized user could view them. This occurs because Cache-Control and Vary headers were mishandled.
CVE-2020-12051 The CentralAuth extension through REL1_34 for MediaWiki allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive hidden account information via an api.php?action=query&meta=globaluserinfo&guiuser= request. In other words, the information can be retrieved via the action API even though access would be denied when simply visiting wiki/Special:CentralAuth in a web browser.
CVE-2020-10960 In MediaWiki before 1.34.1, users can add various Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) classes (which can affect what content is shown or hidden in the user interface) to arbitrary DOM nodes via HTML content within a MediaWiki page. This occurs because jquery.makeCollapsible allows applying an event handler to any Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) selector. There is no known way to exploit this for cross-site scripting (XSS).
CVE-2020-10959 resources/src/mediawiki.page.ready/ready.js in MediaWiki before 1.35 allows remote attackers to force a logout and external redirection via HTML content in a MediaWiki page.
CVE-2020-10534 In the GlobalBlocking extension before 2020-03-10 for MediaWiki through 1.34.0, an issue related to IP range evaluation resulted in blocked users re-gaining escalated privileges. This is related to the case in which an IP address is contained in two ranges, one of which is locally disabled.
CVE-2019-19910 The MinervaNeue Skin in MediaWiki from 2019-11-05 to 2019-12-13 (1.35 and/or 1.34) mishandles certain HTML attributes, as demonstrated by IMG onmouseover= (impact is XSS) and IMG src=http (impact is disclosing the client's IP address). This can occur within a talk page topical header that is viewed within a mobile (MobileFrontend) context.
CVE-2019-19709 MediaWiki through 1.33.1 allows attackers to bypass the Title_blacklist protection mechanism by starting with an arbitrary title, establishing a non-resolvable redirect for the associated page, and using redirect=1 in the action API when editing that page.
CVE-2019-19708 The VisualEditor extension through 1.34 for MediaWiki allows XSS via pasted content containing an element with a data-ve-clipboard-key attribute.
CVE-2019-19345 A vulnerability was found in all openshift/mediawiki-apb 4.x.x versions prior to 4.3.0, where an insecure modification vulnerability in the /etc/passwd file was found in the container openshift/mediawiki-apb. An attacker with access to the container could use this flaw to modify /etc/passwd and escalate their privileges.
CVE-2019-18987 An issue was discovered in the AbuseFilter extension through 1.34 for MediaWiki. Once a specific abuse filter has (accidentally or otherwise) been made public, its previous versions can be exposed, thus potentially disclosing private or sensitive information within the filter's definition.
CVE-2019-18612 An issue was discovered in the AbuseFilter extension through 1.34 for MediaWiki. Previously hidden (restricted) AbuseFilter filters were viewable (or their differences were viewable) to unprivileged users, thus disclosing potentially sensitive information.
CVE-2019-18611 An issue was discovered in the CheckUser extension through 1.34 for MediaWiki. Certain sensitive information within oversighted edit summaries made available via the MediaWiki API was potentially visible to users with various levels of access to this extension. Said users should not have been able to view these oversighted edit summaries via the MediaWiki API.
